Due to the lack of snowpack and North American Snowkite Tour dates, Opening dates have been pushed back until Feb 16th, 2012. We apologize to those of you who were planning on January trips.

Overcast with intermittent snow showers today so off to Sun Valley, over 1.5′ has fallen in the past five days. Forecast calls for party sunny skies for the next few days! Had a flat light 12m session yesterday and the snow is cold and fluffy. Had the best Peruvian food ever today in Sun Valley. Hopefully more wind tomorrow.

What a week it’s been so far, I’ve logged four sessions and one blue bird ski day up on the local hill (but didn’t see the owner Bruce Willis). This week was reserved for scouting out new found areas in the valley. I’ve driven over 400 miles dialing in different locations and aspects for different wind directions. The beginning of the week was pretty flat light and light easterlies, nothing to freak out on. Yesterday was stronger but we found two dozen other riders at “Last resort” , got a chance to meet some local boys and got some great action from cornice wind lip hits. But today was off the charts, I’m in awe of how good it can get out here in Fairfield, ID. After meeting a few ranchers and getting to know some “big fish” I got permission to kite a 140,000 archer ranch up in the hills. Bowls, gullies, flats and perfect up hill wind for some big taste flights. I have no pictures to prove this snowkite heaven exists (I was solo again) but use your imagination and trust me, it does!

It’s been up and down lately, one epic day – one skunky day. It’s been 11 for the last 15 days. So yes it’s a pretty windy place but with a lack of wind sensors it can be tricky finding the best spot. Here is some testimony from Jim Stringfellow on last week’s trip!

Lots of people on the fence for upcoming weekend, this is how I see it. The current snow pack is wet, but there’s plenty of coverage. Forecast/radar looks like tonight will be the last chance for new snow. After tonight looks like solid hi pressure which may produce steady thermal driven west/easterlies! So come out and play, it should be beautiful and perfect photo light.

Just got back from a Utah snowkite trip, Strawberry and Skyline were as good as it ever get’s 8m and 12m powder riding all day long for 6 straight days. I also snatched back the 2010 US Open Snowkite Master title as well, boy does that feel good. Anyways back in Fairfield, ID and the snow has turned back to spring condition this week. Full moon snowkiting last few nights on wet corn snow, still a ton a fun and the east winds have actually been really good the past few days since we got back. Come on out and play! Pics and video to come

We love big dumps, seems like the season is starting back up again!!! Last year it was March, this year it looks like April is the gift horse.
We are now closed for the season, but hope to see you this January 2011. Be on the look out for the release dates (www.snowcinemas.com) for the full length snowkite movie, shot exclusively on the Camas Praire, Idaho!
Thank you
